Our Winter Festival
We came together at the end of Term 2 bringing warmth to our community with our Winter Festival. The Winter Festival reminds us of our ability to bring light into darker times.
The Winter Spiral is celebrated in Steiner schools on or around the winter solstice throughout the world and we welcomed back our Spiral Walk in our School Hall. While singing quietly, the children walked slowly into the centre of the spiral to receive a lit candles from their teacher. They all waited patiently for each other to experience this moment.
Then our community gathered on Thursday for our gorgeous Winter Festival. Students from Class 1 – 5 created beautiful lanterns for this special evening, which at its core is a celebration of light. They all performed a musical piece for their families. Class 6 did a Fire Stick performance which brought an element of excitement for our students and young children.
A glorious natural spiral was created on the oval and as the sun set you could see it was lit by tiny twinkling candles. The spectacular glowing spiral of light was then walked by students, children and their families. Walking out from the centre of the spiral by candlelight reminds us that we are beginning to move towards the warmth of Spring and Summer.
Thank you to all of staff and teachers for making this night magical and memorable for our students, children and community.
